Blogging on Island Time

Greetings from St Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.  We are having a great trip with amazing weather, and we finally found WiFi! Blogging from a little internet cafe on the water. Our plane ride here was a little (actually a lot) shaky and the most frightening I've ever been on.  It didn't help when I over heard the flight attendant say "What the heck is going on?!" But we made it here and were greeted with shots of rum.  While we waited for our luggage and rental car we grabbed another beverage (we needed it after the stressful flight in).  Cam got a Red Stripe and I got the Island Summer Ale which tasted a lot like my favorite summer ale from home, Shipyard Summer.

Upon closer inspection we found it's brewed by Shipyard in Portland, Maine!!

February 10th was my birthday, and was also our first full day on the island.  We spent the day on Sapphire Beach...

... and the evening on a sunset dinner cruise! (I've been dreaming of a sunset dinner birthday cruise since we planned our trip and it just fell into our lap! We were lounging on the beach when Beetlejuice (that is really her name) came over to tell us about the trip. So, glad we went!!

We boarded the boat and were met with champagne and strawberries! Followed by appetizers or smoked salmon with capers, bruschetta and caviar (that I did not try)

And a family style dinner buffet, mahi mahi, pineapple chicken, curried pasta, green beans and feta, fruit, shrimp and different breads.

My plate piled high! I was staaaaavin'.  There was dessert with a birthday candle too :)

    Take a day trip over to St. John. Greg and I have been going there for the past 23 years. We have two villas is July. Hope you enjoy your trip. If you go to St. John, stop by Woodys for some drinks and conch fritters - the best!
